Weekend / 3-Day Ayahuasca Retreat in Costa Rica
Our three-day retreat offers an intimate introduction to working with plant medicine at OM Jungle Medicine.
Over the weekend, guests participate in two traditional plant medicine ceremonies, held with experienced Indigenous facilitators.
Ceremonies balance the deeply personal nature of this work with the connection that comes from moving through the experience in community. Time in the garden, nourishing meals, rest, preparation and integration are all part of the experience.
The weekend retreat is ideal for those who feel called to the medicine but have limited time, as well as those who have previous experience and wish to return to continue their work.
The weekend retreat starts at $575, including shared accommodation with your own private sleeping pod. See what retreats cost in Costa Rica for the full picture.

Integration doesn’t end when you leave
Your retreat includes three integration sessions, along with preparation and support before you arrive. When someone needs additional individual support, the team can provide referrals to integration coaches.
Is Three Days Enough, or Should I Choose the Full Week?
We believe your heart often knows which retreat is right for you.
A three-day retreat can be a powerful and meaningful experience, particularly for those who have worked with plant medicine before or simply do not have the time to stay for a full week.
If you have the time and this is your first experience, however, we often recommend the seven-day retreat.
The week gives you something the weekend simply cannot: time.
Time to arrive and settle into the land. Time to build trust with the people around you. Time to experience the medicine without immediately having to prepare to return home. And, perhaps most importantly, time between ceremonies to rest, integrate and understand what is unfolding.
With three ceremonies rather than two, the journey has space to develop. The first ceremony may begin opening the door. The next can take you deeper. By the third, you are approaching the medicine from a very different place than when you first arrived.
The week also allows you to experience more of what OM is about beyond ceremony — Indigenous teachings and workshops, yoga, integration, our medicinal garden, community, nourishing food, nature and time simply to be.
There is no “better” choice for everyone. The right retreat is the one that meets you where you are.
But if this is your first time sitting with the medicine and you are able to give yourself the full week, we encourage you to give yourself that time.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if I take antidepressants or other medications?
Certain medications can interact dangerously with Ayahuasca. If you are taking antidepressants or other medications that may be contraindicated, they must be addressed before participating. Any reduction or discontinuation of prescribed medication should be done with your doctor or prescribing healthcare professional, never abruptly or without medical guidance. Medical screening is part of our retreat process.
What airport should I fly into?
The closest airport is Liberia International Airport (LIR) in Guanacaste, Costa Rica — OM Jungle Medicine is approximately two hours from the airport. We can connect guests with trusted drivers; transportation is not included in the retreat price.
Will I purge during Ayahuasca?
Purging can happen, but it does not look the same for everyone. It may include vomiting or diarrhea, but it can also appear as yawning, sweating, shaking, laughing or crying. There is no single correct way to experience the medicine.
Do I need to follow a special diet before Ayahuasca?
Preparation recommendations vary among traditions. After registration, you will receive the dietary and preparation guidelines appropriate for your retreat so that you know how to prepare before arriving.
What is the deposit and cancellation policy?
A 50% non-refundable deposit holds your spot; the remainder is paid in cash at check-in. If you need to reschedule 7 or more days before the event, your deposit transfers to a future stay within one year. See the full FAQs & Cancellation Policy page for details.
